145 Days til Curtain...

There is always so much to do. I continue to be thankful for this project. It has been such a large part of my life for so many years now. This week, I did another draft of the stage play. Some challenges have been that my background is film, and that I see things much differently than the stage. The film script has more scene changes and shifts, and even a few more characters. Now with the stage, the goal is to have simpler scenes, less locations, and rely more heavily on dialogue than a screenplay.

Even though this won't be the last draft (is it ever?...lol) my next set of goals are: music--which is another key component to Firstborn; and casting. I'll have a reading of the script in a few weeks to hear it outloud. That's critical at this point.

My schedule will be done this week as well. Next week's check in should have a good deal more specifics. I also went to Arizmendi Emeryville yesterday with my best friend Darice. I saw that Emery High (my old high school) has a Jazz Ensemble now. I'll be checking that out too. The goal is to have young performers for the piece. The Father character (Eli) is a jazz musician, and his late wife a jazz vocalist.

See you next week...
